Thinking about E-Books
At the WVU Press, we are developing our strategic plan to expand the Press’s offerings and move more definitively into ebooks. I’ve been asked to develop a strategy. To evaluate where we should be in the e-publishing landscape, I think we have to do a little bit of thinking about what’s out there now and where it’s going.
First mobile post
This is my first blog post (although my particular site is set up like a feature-rich blog – so a Drupal blog post is really just an instance of yet another content type).
Panels Module Sandbox
An online sandbox demonstrating and testing Drupal’s Panels module. So far, pretty cool!
Home coffee roasting!
Click the cropped pic for a photo of my awesome home coffee roasting setup. No matter how expensive and blingy your espresso machine, grinder, doser, tamper, water filter, or whatever, there is no flavor and crema bump like the one you get when you start home roasting. I’m not a fanatic about any of this stuff – who has the money or the time? But home roasting with a West Bend Poppery II, a Variac (the blue thing, to control voltage and thereby temperature), a photo timer (for perfectly dialed roasting times), and a perforated baking sheet for cooling is just so easy and inexpensive, there’s no reason not to do it. Especially if you’re an inveterate scrounger like me – the popper was the most expensive item here, at $35.00 via eBay.
A day of breakthroughs
I have been marketing myself as someone who could set up a Drupal website for a long time, but the fact is I did not really understand how to exploit the power of Drupal effectively to build the kind of site I could build by hand.
